| Top quality bone china plate measuring 270mm/10 ˝” in diameter with a richly gilded rim. In the centre is a superb picture of photographic quality of a soldier helping an injured comrade with the bridge in the background and battle raging all around. The sides of the plate on the border list the battle honours of the Parachute Regiment with their latest “Falkland Islands 1982” at 6.30. At 12.00 is the inscription “To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem by the 1st Airborne Division 17th – 25th September 1944, 1944-1994”. No 6165 in our current catalogue. |
From Paragon in their classic cup and saucer shape favoured for commemoratives in the 1940/50s. Both cup and saucer are in a pale green. The saucer has in the centre an anchor on a blue background in an acanthus leaf frame with a crown on top. This is actually the badge worn on Naval Officers caps. The inside of the cup is completely filled with three large battleships in line on a green blue sea. Around the inside of the trim is the inscription “Britain shall triumph her ships shall plough the sea, her scabbard be justice her watchword be free”. One of the more popular designs of this series.
