 | A pottery plate measuring 195mm/7 ¾” in diameter with all the decoration in brown. In the centre a very severe looking Queen under which is her name and the inscription “Jubilee Year 1887.” Above her are her coat of arms with draped flags to the sides. The transfers to the sides are not known to us. One appears to be a group of people in native dress possibly outside an Indian temple, the transfer on the other side of the portrait is a group of Chinese people in appearance and a soldier with a rifle? On a hillside of vegetation, could this be a tea plantation?
Most unusual design and very collectible. |
